Bus Travel Within Istanbul You need to buy a ticket before boarding a bus. Individual tickets or books of 10 can be purchased at ticket stands around the city. Shoe-shine boys or men on the street will also sell them to you for a few cents more. Fares are about 40¢ per ride. On the city's orange privatized buses (Halk Otobüsü), you pay for tickets on the bus.
