Ataturk Olympic Stadium - Istanbul Ataturk Olympic Stadium is located away from the busy downtown area, in a south central area at the Olympic Park in Ikitelli District, Istanbul. It is easily accessible by the main expressways of the city and in close proximity of the Atatürk International Airport.
The city of Istanbul aspiring to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games has well deservedly invested over 126 million US Dollars in the construction of the Ataturk Olympic Stadium. The owner of the stadium is the Preparation and Organisation Council for the Istanbul Olympic Games alias Istanbul Olympic Bidding Committee.
Ataturk Olympic Stadium has been the home of the Galatasaray Sports Club since August 2003 and has hosted many exciting games during the 2003/2004 Turkish National First League.
The Atatürk Olympic Stadium has been included together with some of the world’s biggest and most important stadiums, in the book called “Stadi Del Mondo” ( Stadiums of the World), which was published by Edizioni Gribaudo in Italy in 2004. The 445 page book studies 91 stadiums in 38 different countries with rich photography and gives information about each stadium.
Besides the Ataturk Olympic Stadium, the book includes many well-known stadiums such as Stade de France, Wembley, Maracana, Telstra (Sydney Olympic) and Rome Olympic Stadiums. |
